About Urban Verde Design

Urban Verde Design was born out of a simple conviction: urban life deserves verdant breathing rooms that are as artful as they are restorative. Founded in 2014 by lead architect Jordan Varela, our practice has grown into an interdisciplinary studio of horticulturists, lighting specialists and construction managers. Together we’ve delivered over three hundred residential and commercial landscapes throughout the five boroughs, Westchester and Long Island.

Our design language merges the crisp lines of modern architecture with the organic rhythm of naturalistic planting. Every plan is produced using 3‑D modelling so you can visualize sight‑lines, shade patterns and circulation before we break ground. We follow rigorous workflows that comply with New York City Department of Buildings regulations and landmark preservation guidelines where applicable.

Community engagement sits at the heart of our mission. We regularly donate design hours to school gardens and pollinator pathways, and our staff hosts seasonal workshops on composting, native perennials and rooftop agriculture.
